This is last week's work, just a few days late. It frustrates me to be derailed from my usual routine. I do have a preference for things to be predictable and tidy, but I'm exhausted with trying to make things fall in line perfectly, so I forgive myself for showing up late here.
It didn't help that half way through this piece I realized I was using colors from the Eighties - neon greens and yellows, dusty rose and mauve. I'm reminded of mood rings, pet rocks, Bonnie Bell lip gloss and Robin Williams in rainbow colored suspenders saluting "Nano Nano!" These images kept on flooding back to me each time I approached it, making the work of finishing it seem like a chore. Now that it's done, each time I look at it I'm transported back to a time when my hair had that Farrah Fawcett flip, I had a crush on Eric Estrada and I wore white knee socks with stripes around the top. Ugh! Gag me with a spoon!
Maybe you would disagree... thinking of more contemporary images when you look at it... nothing would make me happier. It is after all a lovely array of autumn colors like the ones found in Ms. Mel's post about leaves today, and it does buzz with a certain blend of pattern meets imperfection.

Elements #25

Today my goal is to rescue my mind from this annoying diversion down memory lane... Ambrosia and Pink Floyd will have to wait, along with those bell-bottom pants I purchased from the Squire shop... I simply have to get to work if I want to get back on track!
(Sigh)...
...here we go again...
... wax on, wax off.

That color scheme is not one bit 80s. It's perfectly lovely. Congratulations on finishing it. You've been very productive.
I love the colors you selected.... it has a real sophistication and elegance to it and the black sets things off nicely. I also think the color scheme has a complexity to it and not predictable.... Nice work!

I agree...I loved this palette from the moment you selected the fabrics. Makes me think of tropical gardens, but thanks for the walk down memory lane! Ahh....CHiPs!!!
If you look at some of the new fabric lines, those colors would fit right in. I really like it. I did enjoy the 80's flashback! It actually reminded me of Starburst Chews, or maybe it because I need to go buy Halloween candy.:-)
Who can remember the 80's?
I am dying to see your finished book with all these quilts BIG so I can see them all up close and personal. Soon I hope...
And I LOVED these colors. Really Loved them.
oh no...maybe the colours are reminiscent of the 80's individually, or paired up, but combined like you have done, they are magnificent...millenial!!
Love this. Beautiful. And don't worry about going off schedule. This is life!
